Lots of different versions of maps out there for the Coopers Rock State Forest.
Right now, this is the one I like best. Not all the trails are named, but we still know what they are. This is the one we're going to be going by for course description and such.

Please keep in mind-
We simply cannot pre-mark the course. It gets torn down and then all is for naught. We mark it Saturday afternoon and we still have to review parts of it and make things right. Unfortunately it's just the way it is and has been. Thank you for your patience and consideration.

Beginner Course and the start of everyone else -
Yes, we are going to be starting on the road. Somewhere not far from the bottom. Get those climbing legs ready!.
This is the way the race started originally and for many, many years. Before lightweight bikes, before clipless pedals and fancy shoes.

Henry Clay Furnace Road up to the first left, going across the power line field, heading towards Roadside Trail and Day Use Lot. Follow arrows and trail to the main road. Cross main road (carefully) and head down Scott's Run Trail.
Stay on the Scott's Run Trail, trail turns right up the rocky creek bed (going left doesn't really go anywhere), then finally you get to the top and the Campground Road. Follow signs and arrows and marshalls across the road and down toward the reservoir.
Turn right to go on the new Reservoir Loop Trail, take it to the end, sharp right onto the Lower Reservoir Trail. Take that to the Rock Cairn and a hard left to go up the Upper Reservoir Trail. Follow this to the end.
At T take a left and then right down the gravel road over to Libor. At T take the right and go down Libor Trail. Down, down, down.
Follow the arrows and hard right instead of going straight to The Wall, and more down.
At bottom, turn left down Clay Run Trail and onto Henry Clay Furnace area.
Beginners will bear to the right, go toward the furnance and out & up Clay Furnace Trail to the finish.

Sport and Experts -
Bear left at the bottom/three-way and go up Rhododendron. Up, up, up, to the right turn to take bench-cut connector trail up to the Rock City area, taking a left at top to go toward Rock City.
At Rock City shelter bear right and through Rock City and all the rhododendren. When you pop out bear left and go down Ridge Trail. Down, down, down, until you bear right onto Mont Chateau Trail, going up that rocky trail/stream-bed to the Furnace area.
Everyone left bears left to go to and around the Furnace, Sports go straight and up Clay Furnace Trail to finish at the parking lot.

Experts -
Will turn right after/above the furnace, onto the Advanced Ski Trail/Rail Grade. Very near the top turn right and down Intermediate Ski/Reservoir Trail, toward the reservoir.
You'll run into the Rock Cairn and bear right to Upper Reservoir Trail, and do as above; left then right at end of Upper, then right down Libor, hard right to continue down Libor, then left onto Clay Run Trail. Bear to the right at bottom, around furnace and then up and out Clay Furnace Trail to finish.

~9 miles for Beginner.
~13 miles for Sport.
~17 miles for Expert.
Distances are a little shorter this year, so wet, no need to trash things...

Coopers Rock is hilly and rocky and so is this course. Please keep that in mind... #respecttherock
